Congress appropriates money to foreign countries, so they can buy US votes. And all their talk of reforming congress...They can never do it because AIPAC (Israeli Lobby) would get them booted from office.
He has indicated many practical approaches to approaching a more libertarian government. For instance, he would not abolish social security, but allow the younger generation to opt out. Those who have already put in significant amounts would continue on the program. He would cut the billions we spend on fighting the various wars to bring us from the brink.
In reality, all politics is compromise. So he would have an agenda but also have to deal with congress and the courts to move forward. The USDA spends how much money paying farmers not to grow anything? And how much are we wasting on corn ethanol, that gains us almost nothing after all the oil required to make it. The FDA really worked on protecting us from lead and GHB in childrens toys from China! These programs only make you feel good that the government is doing something, while they take half your money. We are better served by private programs like the UL.
