I would think the judge would consider intent when deciding their punishment?? I have been all over the Carribean and Iguanas seem to be everywhere. While I never had the urge to kill and eat one, I certainly didn't know any of them were endangered. My guess is that if these people had any idea they were breaking the law or if the iguana was endangered, they would not have killed it. Maybe it doesn;t matter, but I think it should.

Law is law regardless regardless of whether they know it or not.The laws have to be publicly available though.
