pspupdates.qj.net— Somehow the PSP UMD Tools (also known as UMD Composer) used by licensed developers have apparently found their way onto the Internet this week.

Pathetic. What a shallow and desperate attempt to regain market share and consumer confidence. The UMD won't just suddenly surge to stardom like some viral underground utility. It's a dead format. Stop propping it up on sticks and making it dance.
Based on the digg count, Sony rootkit jokes never get old, at least for me. Their tactics are so unholy, they make Microsoft look like the March of Dimes.
"Who cares,Nobody can create UMD discs, so what is the use of this tool outside of the development enviroment."The use is the ability to create .pmf files, which was until now impossible.

They should have just used that standard small DVD form factor to start with.

For everyone who is retarded. It's not JUST for UMD stuff. You can use it to make gameboots, CIntros, and other stuff.

I highly agree. The ability to edit PMFs: now that's something. I may be able to now replace the annoying gameboot with something more meaningful...
