psp3d.xhardwarereviews.com — Fanjita, developer of the eLoader for PSP, alongside AlexRichter, has created a new homebrew application called Install-o-tron, which downloads, extracts, and installs homebrew directly from the PSP, which, essentially, simplifies homebrew installation. Homebrew for the masses, yay!

This will be good for alot of people who are "scared" of homebrew this will help turn more people to the darkside. 1.5 firmware for life!

For those new to the PSP and looking for information about the PSP homebrew scene, here's a few good places to start:http://psphacking101.com -- good place to start, download, watch all the .wmv showshttp://psp3d.comhttp://pspupdates.qj.net/http://noobz.euhttp://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/http://ps2dev.org/And whatever you do, DON'T do the NETWORK update via WIFI to firmware 2.8 (as you can't go back at this point)! I repeat don't! To run the widest amount of software out there, you will want to downgrade to firmware 1.5 which with Devhook, can run just about anything (even UMDs that need firmware 2.71)

Psp Hacking 101 did a segment on how to read the serial numbers on the boxes to tell which firmwares they are running.
