i remember awhile back a special upgrade pack for ps2 that included a keyboard, hard drive, with linux. heres a link...http://www.us.playstation.com/peripherals.aspx?id=SCPH-97047so yes it is possible that sony could introduce a similar kit for the ps3. and as jesusphreak stated, i personally dont trust everything that sony says, especially the "2 teraflops" statement. i bet the cell is fast, but i doubt it could even do 1 teraflop.

OSX would be sooo sweet, but even if they just get linux on it it would be awsome. With the HD capability and a good tv-set, and USB -> mouse/keyboard, it would make the desktop computer obsolet. Let me explain: With high res and keyb/mouse and an OS you can do computer tasks like surfing and listen to musik/watching films etc.. And ps3 native can play almost all games, and the fact that it has real USB ports make it plausible that you can use keyb/mouse in games as well and finaly bringing fps to the console.

Sony is done this round, I predict a late launch will less features than they are currently touting. 360 and Revo will be my pics for next gen.

for all you people saying "Why use a PS3 as a PC when I own a PC?"Because yer PC is not in yer living room. Putting a PC in yer living room (HTPC) is a sloppy and clunky matter of not always so elegant software and hardware.Because back in the good old days of computers (mid '80s to early '90s) computers were very welcome in the living room. They were like high end game consoles but they let you do whatever you wanted with them. I feel sorry for those that were born too late to enjoy the great era of the Commodore 64 and Amiga 500.running games on a PS3 will be no different then any other game console. there wont be any installing or any of that BS. But it does have a lot of potential in multimedia and it's a dream for the home brew community. Tons of current xbox owners mod there machines to run XBMC and console emulators and here the PS3 is looking to encourage that legally right out of the box and people are actually saying it's dumb and it will bomb? The PS3 is not going to bomb and it's not the death of Sony. It's going to get stiff competition from MS but it's not going to die.The machine uses totally open development tools and APIs, detailed system specs are going to be released by IBM (that's another cause why the PS3 wont bomb. It's not juts Sony it's IBM) and they have been releasing CEL source for the Linux kernel left and right.I expect great things from the machine. I don't expect it to be totally super great and without it's hype let downs and first year software concerns and I don't expect OSX. Though Apple and Sony do have a good business relationship and have worked on stuff together in the past and are working on stuff now so who knows. It's just not going to bomb.
