ps3.qj.net — The day of the Japanese PS3 launch came and went. And with it, it brought along a ton of news. But you still haven't seen the best bit yet! You see, before Sony even released more info about Yellow Dog Linux for the PS3, Power Developer has already released kernel patches and a bootloader so that you can try out Linux on your PS3.

Rumour has it that Sony were getting ready to enable OS X to be installed on the PS3, until Apple switched over to X86.Anyway doesn't Apple still maintain two versions of OS X? Both PPC and X86?

It can be your next desktop/gaming system but I really doubt it can be your next desktop gaming system. What I mean is I wouldn't expect counter-strike to run on it....although they did just optimize it for multi core processors. Hmmmmmm

^^^Thats exactly what I was thinking. I suppose it could because WINE runs on any Linux distro I think so in theory it could work.

Your UT game server really doesn't need the PS3's floating-point computational power or graphics capabilities, nor will it run very well with 256MB of RAM. Not a great idea.

I'm so sorry, Let me put this in perfect English since their isn't much sense of humor around here. I'm sick of everyone saying "Yay, the Wii will own all." I just decided to go along with the rest of the posts and say, simply the Wii is so great, even though I disagree. Sorry for making a joke about your favorite system I didn't mean to hurt you, you'll be ok. Seriously lighten up.

Umm, he probably modded the GC to play illegal copies of games; a gamecube modchip eventually became available toward the end of it's life. Also dumb things like dvd playback. GC was probably the worst modable system since, well, N64...

But all you had to do to get your US N64 to play imports was to shave off a little plastic tab, or use a GameShark!

Myth as a backend (with TV Tuner would be a waste of a PS3 Myth as a frontend would be great. I'd love a quiet myth frontend that outputs HDTV resolutions. Currently my only frontend for HD is my Mac dual G5 2.0Ghz in my bedroom, I'd love a box that I could use in the living room that would easily reboot into PS3 gaming mode when I want to play games and reboot into myth frontend when I want to watch TV.
