Yup, I had to buy a special "somewhat hackable" player to get upscaling over component. No technical reason it won't work, just a dumb licensing issue.

When they add upscaling is when I'll be getting a PS3. :) I think that this added feature will allow me to sell my PS2 and my Upscaling DVD player and just have a single system (which will be nice :) alongside my Wii :) Although, I am looking forward to better games (on both systems) to make them even more valuable.
