blog.us.playstation.com — "Scheduled for release in the next few days, firmware 1.82 is an update that enables the playback of AVC High Profile (H.264/MPEG-4) files. We?re continuing to evaluate and improve things across the board, including PS2 software compatibility. I?ll chime in here quickly with an update once the firmware is live and ready."

"a game console that requires more fixes and updates than windows vista. is the ps3 total fubar, or did sony dupe the public by releasing an unfinished product for $600?"What you're confusing yourself here is that the console is able to evolve and adapt to any changes made within its technological realm, much like how an operating system will need to be upgraded to keep up with constant changes with new media and content being provided. Either way, an update is a damn update. What difference does it make that they're smaller ones versus bigger ones? Are you leading us to assume that the xbox360 annual/biannual updates are better in contrast?

You're a dumb f**k, aren't you, ya lttle troll. Unlike your s**t box, we keep getting new features while yours keeps breaking down by the tens of thousands each day. Oh, and nice use of quotes, you idiot.

I just installed the update and it does not support any H.264 files that I have. I'm not sure what this update is supposed to do as far as I can tell nothing is changed or improved.
