simsarchive.jumbahost.com — The users at the Whirlpool Broadband forums (yes, the same ones who brought you the "$100 XP Trick") were feeling in a slum over good quality PC games. They pooled together and researched as many 'FREE", but decent PC games as possible. Ending up with a list of over 100 FEE PC games.

I know it's gotten a poor reputation because Linux users who hadn't touched a console in decades kept saying it was the best game ever made, and it wasn't, but it's still a fun game: Tux Racer. After the company that made it went out of business, some other people kept improving it, and it's now called PlanetPenguin Racer.http://projects.planetpenguin.de/racer/ (Official page)http://www.arkay.de/software/ppracer.html (Windows version)There isn't a whole lot to it other than a downhill race with item collection, but it's worth a look.

Not sure why the creators of this list felt that 'PC games were in a slum' but they would be dead wrong. With recently released titles like Rise of Legends, GRAW, Titan Quest, and recently the awe-inspiring Company of Heroes, not to mention upcoming October releases of the Dawn of War Expansion "Dark Crusade", Neverwinter Nights 2, BF2142, Sid Meier's Railroads!, and Medieval Total War 2 (Nov. Release)...it's almost laughable to be whining about a lack of good PC games. Clearly their judgement isn't that great so it's hard to take their list of free games that serious either.Remind me never to frequent their website/forums....

This list is pretty dumb and false. Freespace 2 and Mech Commander are not free games.
