Reflecting the overall split in American public opinion, around 1,000 counterprotesters were also in attendance.

Patriotism isn't Nationalism.. there are differences.. Patriotism being more love of ones country and Nationalism more of a follow-the-leader mentality of unquestioning loyalty to the Nation.

I was there too. It stretched for blocks, farther than I could see in either direction. People were packed shoulder to shoulder from one edge of the street to the other.

I believe there's a relevant Bush quote about time tables and withdraw dates to debate the usefulness of even a week-long protest. Just like the insurgents, Bush can wait you out. He still has over a year to go before he's gone, barring a political solution.
