maxim.com — "Is it the real Cup?" Yes. "How much does it weigh?" 35 pounds. "What happens when it fills up with names?" The rings at the top come off and go to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Then we put a new ring on the bottom. So this year's winner will be on the cup for 62 years.

I saw it at a hockey game. I was at a Sharks game and it was just there. They said it tours all the arenas during the season and it just happened to be there that day.It sure does look great. They were letting people take their picture with it, and many took advantage. It was weird that here's a crowd of 16,000 and there was very little crowd control for it, just some ropes to stand behind. It was in an area on the main concourse where everyone mills around by the concession stand. It's a cool cup. And I think the NHL is very wise to allow all the weirdness with people drinking out of it (or even putting bait in it as mentioned in the article) and such. It really adds to the legend that it had to be fished out of a swimming pool.http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/nhl/2007-03- ...Hey, that's a pretty funny link. I'm gonna post it.

The Stanley Cup is one of the most famous trophies on the planet, of course this is going to make the front page.

Both that and for commenting on your own comment.

Nope, you can't hoist it. A former cup winner can hoist it. That's about it. It's also like you said about not having it "hoisted" by too many people, and once one person hoists it, everyone wants to. It will damage the trophy.Personally, I would love to keep the minnows in it during a fishing trip, that would be awesome.

It was also tossed off the side of the building by Spader and Shatner on Boston Legal (though Im sure it actually landed on a nice safe coushin off camera)
