bits.blogs.nytimes.com — In July, Soap.com will start selling 25,000 items typically found in a drugstore, like laundry detergent, shampoo and toilet paper. "Nobody is really buying toilet paper online. We're trying to shift in a big way consumer behavior over all, and take share from offline."

I'll probably do it for the novelty of it.

They better stock Tuscan Whole Milk and allow user reviews.

Should've paid extra for expedited overnight shipping. That way you only have to wait a few hours.

Erm... I'm a student, I don't own a car.I live too far away from my nearest supermarket to be able to carry back a weekly shop, so I get it delivered. And yes, this includes toothpaste and toilet paper. What's so weird about that?

It's a niche market in bigger cities. I used Safeway.com often in Arizona when I was working 16 hour days. I would arrange to have groceries delivered my one day off during the week so I didn't have to drive anywhere. Once I get back into a metro area I plan to do this more often as it allows me to shop cheaper (I can see my total before I buy, so I can remove products, change quantities, etc. to fit my budget.I usually only went to Amazon.com to buy books and music, but now that I know they sell other stuff like shampoo, I plan on using them for that as well, even if I have to pay shipping it's cheaper than driving into town to go to the grocery store.
