pamshouseblend.com — Thursday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing marking up the Leahy PATRIOT Act extension bill is the best chance yet for significant reform. As well as limiting the use of sneak-and-peak warrants and National Security Letters, it bars "bulk collection" under FISA and holds telecom companies accountable for past abuses.

Who is a dummy: one who actively supports the petitioning of his government to protect his 4 amendment rights or one who disparages such attempts with worthless 'I told you so' comments?

People first have to wake up to the fact Obama is a liar and a fraud.

Isn't it peoples belief's of "Hope" and "Change" that got us into this in the first place? Also, "remind him"? You think he just doesn't know? Hasn't noticed what he placed his entire campaign on? Now all that said, you and I have vastly political differences, and I think you still have one eye blind, but everyone should fight this. Not only to "reform" the bill, whatever the hell that means, but to rip it from the books and never let something so nefarious ever touch the law again.

Why would we need to remind Obama? He supports the Patriot Act, he extended provisions of the Patriot Act. You keep on reminding him.The rest of us need to work on electing candidates in the future who will support the American people and the Constitution and need to work diligently now to thwart this administrations attempt to further encroach on our constitutional rights.

Our chance? This ultimately rests in the outlook of the committee members so based on the FISA telecom immunity bill (<a class="user" href="http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&amp;session=2&amp;vote=00020%29" rel="nofollow">http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_li ...</a> I predict the following:Patrick Leahy - YeaJeff Session - NeyHerb Kohl - NayOrrin Hatch - NayDianne Feinstein - YeaCharles E. Grassley - Nay*Russell D. Feingold - YeaJon Kyl - NayCharles E. Schumer - YaeLindsey Graham - NayRichard J. Durbin - YaeJohn Cornyn - NayBenjamin L. Cardin - YaeTom Coburn - Nay*Sheldon Whitehouse - Nay*Amy Klobuchar - YaeEdward E. Kaufman - Unknown*Arlen Specter - Nay*Al Franken - Unknown**Senators who could conceivably vote Yea.So,If we assume all starred names are hard nay's, we get 7 - 12 against. If we assume that half the starred names will vote nay and the rest yea, we get 10 - 9 in favor. If we assume ALL the starred names vote Yea, we get 13 - 6 in favor. My ultimate prediction is that Kaufman and Franken will vote Yea to give 9 - 10 against. Leahy, ultimately, I believe will be the key. But I predict that this will fail by 1 vote.
