detnews.com — That so many customers would use one search engine to find another is among the odd truths being mined from AOL's public release of search data. For better or worse, the data offer the first widespread public glimpse of how people search the Internet, of what they are interested in.

The really stupid thing is that AOL is google. AOL is a mirror of google. So it is the same as searching for Google on Google. This is very common. These people have aol search as their home page and a lot of people use the search box on their home page instead of the address bar.

Haha, I actually laughed at this... and i dont laugh often...I wonder if those people who searched for Google on AOL then go and search for Yahoo on Google? :P

^^^this is EXACTLY what is happening, the article's conclusion is bogus. people do it with their IE when the msn search bar appears too (since msn is their homepage....).

...typed 'boobs' into aol.comit gives me a 'You have entered a search term that is likely to return adult content.' warning page before proceeding... but the banner ad on the side of the page is for an 'Adult Fantasy Finder'...Thats pretty stupid. (not the comment but the half naked people in the ads on a THIS SEARCH MIGHT RETURN ADULT CONTENT page)
