arstechnica.com— Things have been awfully tough for Microsoft over the past year. Aside from all of its woes with Yahoo and Jerry Yang, the company has faced a PR nightmare on the Vista front.

I can tell you from experience that OS X isn't slow with one gig of RAM and a C2D. When people make that kind of statement I conclude they haven't used OS X much, or even at all. It's as if they have a knee-jerk impulse to defend Vista's memory requirements by saying "OS X is just the same!" because they assume it must be. I'll take your word for it that Vista needs 2 gigs. My own experience with different machines tells me that OS X doesn't need that much, although it certainly likes it. But if it's the case that Vista needs a little more memory than OS X, big deal! Comparing modern operating systems on the basis of how much memory they need, as if that said a lot about their overall quality, is silly. They're different systems with different designs. They both get the job done. It's not like we're back in the days when memory was gold. 2 gigs of RAM means about the same as 512 megs a few years ago, and costs less in fact.
Vista is a turkey, second only to Windows Millenium Edition. Even though Microsoft may appear unassailable, they need to do some serious thinking if they're going to remain relevant in the modern operating systems game.
Looks like someone got sent to bed without milk and cookies. Its OK, when you're an adult you can have milk and cookies and stay up late. Won't that be swell!By the time Windows 7 is released, Mainstream hardware today will be seen in bargain PCs. Having the same driver model won't make much of a difference at that point in time.
DRM is the reason Microsoft Media Center can record TV Shows & Movies from premium channels like HBO. Not to mention playing back HD-DVD Blu-ray. The Vista DRM only turns on when you the user try to play DRMed content. Avoid DRM music & Video files and it won't turn on. As for play Blu-ray & HD-DVD just get AnyDVD HD and it will filter out the DRM at the driver level.

Vista SP1 did nothing just a waste of HD space if you ask me Microsft should take a page out of Blizzard Entertainment " It Done When It's Done"
