People should read what I say :( That Pornzilla site's mass of bloated extensions won't work quite as well as a lot of what Opera already comes with. Also, Opera uses less resources, CPU and RAM, than all other proper browsers. I'm a zealot, yeah, but I'm not being inflammatory yet :P
I'm one or two of those 2.X million downloads. Do I use it though? Not really. I'd use it before I'd use IE, but I still prefer Firefox. I've become dependent on my extensions.
i love going back (hold down right mouse button - click left mouse button) and forward (hold down left button - click right button). no keystrokes or cruising the mouse up to the "back" button. pretty f**king awesome.
My two cents.... Opera is a lot better for older people, has the best zoom i´ve ever tried, ie & firefox just increase the font size, while opera increases flash, images, and text! The one tiny thing why I still use firefox is because I truly hate not being able to use the "CONTROL + ENTER" command to auto complete URLs. I know, i´m a baby but have gotten so used to that shortcut that I hate to have to go back and type the www, and the .com . I know that in opera you can type just "digg" and it will try to see weather digg.com is a valid website but for me it takes a lot longer. I tried disabeling the local DNS as the opera forums suggested but it wasnt good enough. My conclusion: good for older people, great zoom feature, popup blocker, etc. I will stick with firefox.
"I truly hate not being able to use the "CONTROL + ENTER" command to auto complete URLs"Opera can do anything.First go to:tools-preferences-advanced-shortcuts Then choose to edit keyboard setup. Next go to: advanced-edit widgetNow add the following shortcuts. They will make alt+f1 complete .com, alt+f2 complete .net, and alt+f3 complete .org.Shortcut | ActionAlt + F1 Go to line end & Insert, ".com" & Go to line start & Insert, "www." & GoAlt + F2 Go to line end & Insert, ".net" & Go to line start & Insert, "www." & GoAlt + F3 Go to line end & Insert, ".org" & Go to line start & Insert, "www." & GoInspired by <a class="user" href="http://www.neowin.net/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t313808.html">http://www.neowin.net/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t313808.html</a>
Does anyone here know of a good resource for all these crazy Opera features? Like a wiki or something..I just found out you can drag a tab into Opera's title bar to pull that tab OUTSIDE of the MDI.
Here's a great resource which helped me get more out of Opera. (updated for Opera 8)"30 Days to being an Opera lover" <a class="user" href="http://operalover.tntluoma.com/8/">http://operalover.tntluoma.com/8/</a>It blows my mind how opera can be so powerful and fast with such a small download. I still use firefox alongside for some things (Opera still has some standards compliance issues and doesn't display some sites properly), but Opera is so fast and it doesn't require loads of extensions to be installed and configured to work, it just does so out of the box. Also, opera's email client "M2" is the best I've ever used. It's a completely different way of organizing and approaching email. It also approaches RSS/feeds from the same way - as mentioned above - so you don't just have the last 20 posts from a site, you've got a databased, live-searchable archive of all posts since you subscribed.
