"Wouldn't this be a bad thing? The spy/ad-ware companies could just see how they were being detected and change their program. Someone prove me wrong, please."I was thinking the same exact thing.
This may the only hope for the future. After the lukewarm response from Symantic and NAI with the Sony rootkit I don't think it's wise to trust the big security firms anymore. Spyware is big money and big money can get your spyware labeled "innocent" adware.
I'm not really suure about open source anti-spyware or anti-virus software, at least, for now. Maybe it'll be different in anoter 10 years or so, who knows.
Winpatrol also has similar functionality, works well, and has a free version. As mentioned by others, MS Antispyware (Windows Defender), Spybot and the paid version of AdAware come with the same kind of protection. These can be a wee bit intimidating for new/inexperienced users, but they do help you keep track of what's going on in your Windows system.
Hi,Spybot and Adware are good for such common and commercially successful antivirus and antispyware programs but generally if I make use of one I have to use the other to pick up the threats that the first one misses. The intrusion prevention they come with isn?t as solid as I would like to see them be so I tend to shy away from those two programs. Since I run a business out of my home network security is a top priority for me and none of the top commercial programs have delivered anything that I would consider secure. There?s no way those programs could keep my files safe from data theft. I run my business on a tight budget too so I didn?t want to spend much more on new antivirus applications so I tried searching for a free antivirus software program. The one that I consistently heard about was Blink Personal from Eeye. I?ve been using it ever since I downloaded it as it blows all the others away. But now I got more good here- check it outhttp://www.reviewica.com/software/anti-spyware/spy ...
Spyware and adware has become as intrusive, disruptive, and damaging as your common virus, with the only difference being the payload of ads.
