testfreaks.com — The open source popular project Songbird (as well as others) is dropping Linux in favor of stronger Windows and Mac development. According to Songbird developers Pioneers of The Inevitable (POTI Inc.), they have limited resources and need to put focus where it makes the most sense.

uuuuuh!!! we lose YAITC (yet another iTunes clone)!!! big deal.for those who like this kind of interface, or are satisfied with what gnome provides, there's rythmbox, for those who doesn't or just use whatever comes with KDE, there's amarok (versions 1.4.x is the best music manager to date, IMHO), also, there's XMMS for those who like a winamp-like interface, and others.so, farewell shongbird. we hardly knew ya.

Anyone who can set it up has better things to do than set up itunes. It's like configuring a television in front of your toilet that continuously plays (only) the new transformers movies. Congrats, you set it up... now enjoy your s**tty movies.

I liked Songbird, but it was a resource hog and its development community really slowed down.I still think Winamp is the best music player out there, and I've used it for well over a decade. Maybe it's become a bit bloaty in recent releases, but its library can do things I haven't seen in any other player, and it's very fast.If there's a player for Linux that can match Winamp's library browser in terms of functionality and options I'd love to know about it (providing I could import my library via xml for itunes).

As long as you like linux 'mr Bitch' you're a good friend of mine. I switched to Ubuntu about 3 years ago and never regretted it. Long live Linux!!!
