After Reagan was elected I'm sure that you could have put together a similar map to show that the country was turning Republican. Obama is popular, and he has had the right message at the right time so far. Does these mean that the country has made a massive swing in personal beliefs and political leanings? I don't think so.

too bad Dean didn't get to keep being the DNC. I don't trust this Kaine not to go back to the way things were, when the democats just held the west coast and north east.

Who fixed the savings and loan crisis WITHOUT spending $1 trillion on wasteful social welfare services and saddling their grandchildren with the bills? Oh yeah...you know who it was.

Those of us who can do elementary reading realize that the popular vote was 52/46, not 50/50. It was, in fact, the largest popular vote margin for a non-incumbent in history.http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/11/obama-popul ...

Because direct democracy is tyranny of the majority. Why should 4 states get to make laws for all 50?The founding fathers devised a brilliant system. Sorry if it's too complicated for you to figure out.

Last time I checked, having differing opinions is what makes democracy work. Having one voice to rule them all, or one group (or both) believing their way is absolutely correct, and the other must die, is the most effective method by which to destroy a nation. Have we learned nothing from the Vorlons and Shadows?
