vectormagic.stanford.edu — Stanford University research project on converting bitmap images to vector art, aka "auto tracing" or "automatic vectorization". Similar to Adobe Illustrator's Live Trace and CorelDRAW's PowerTRACE but works better in many cases. Upload image and get a converted result (EPS/SVG) in a few moments.

I'll still manual trace most of my things, but this is a very nice auto-trace program

It is a very nice tool but it would be better if it is a standalone program and can be used even when there is no internet connection.

What an incredible online app. I can't fully express how impressed I am by this. Can't believe I even got it to work with all the traffic they must be getting right now.

WOW! This is amazing, I put a colorized photograph in there and it turned into a picture that looks illustrated. I am amazed!!!

It's special because it's much better than any of the other current solutions.Vector tracing is not a trivial problem, and there is always room for improvement; this was a big improvement.very cool link though

Sadly the service doesn't seem to be completely free anymore. I happen to be on site during this transition yesterday. The (scaled down) PNG download is free but for EPS you got to cough up some cash (not sure how much though). Back to CS2.
