businessweek.com — Alfred Adler, a psychologist who collaborated with Sigmund Freud, said: "Trust only movement. Life happens at the level of events, not of words. Trust movement." The philosophy transfers to the online world quite well. Don't just trust words, authenticate them. This is especially vital when the communication involves your business.

There are people in the virtual world that can be trusted when it comes to business dealings. Hiring a virtual assistant to help with your workload requires a bit of trust. Sure you can have them sign Non-Disclosure Agreements, but that doesn’t prevent them from spilling the beans. It only aids in your suit against them if they do. A trustworthy person will be trustworthy without having to be told or required to sign something. I know everyone is afraid, but like other posters have stated, do your homework. Ask for references, personal and business. You should follow the wisdom from the past, “Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you.”
