I kind of understand it. If your buddy or girlfriend in the room takes your powerup, throws you off a ledge, or saves your butt, there is some communication that is going to come with that. You can see their face to tell if something was an accident, yell at or thank them, bargain with them to team up on the guy in the lead, or call a ceasefire. All of that is kind of lost online, yeah? Nintendo likes this kind of environment; it's a large part of what the wii and pack-in wii sports are all about. Also, they know their online/wii speak suck, they don't want to fix them, and they can get away with not doing so.
Maybe because Miyamoto played the X-Box one time, and was called a fag, queer, and gentlemen in the same session and said. "f**k this crap!" ?
That's part of the reason I sold my Wii shortly after getting it (finished Mario and Zelda, didn't need it anymore). The lack of online gaming in this day and age is unacceptable.

Yes..actually no. The guy above, like 10-11 comments ago enjoys it too! Go play w/ him in the same room.

Processing power has nothing to do with it. The Wii already has a TCP/IP stack... its just a function of coding it. Its not cpu intensive at all

plus they probably wouldn't want the mom's to get on the conversations that happen over internet games

they're probably scared b/c of the conservations that tend to form in online games.
