Except for it is safer than pepper spray.For the cop.Let's say that for any reason (heritage, not sober, etc.) someone does not effectively respond to pepper spray.Or, that there is a crowd around the suspect.How are you going to subdue them now? If they don't respond to pepper spray, then you either can beat them with a stick, which means you have to be close to them. And if you're that close, and pepper spray isn't working, a nightstick won't be too much better. Cop can lose.Crowd around them? Pepper spray isn't a bullet. It has a cone effect. Innocent bystanders can get in in their eyes, on their clothes, in their hair, etc. (the last two allowing it to come back continually)Or, you can taser them from a safe distance, with little chance of them not responding, and, unless the cop is a horrible shot, no chance of hitting civilians.This, of course, assumes that the cop is not trigger happy, in which case it's not the tool's fault. That person shouldn't be a cop to begin with

I would write to my local representative but alas, here in America, our representatives only listen to high paying lobbyists. The people are controlled by the media and brainwashed by fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD, as I mentioned earlier.) There are only a few of us with any sense and we're considered to be far left liberals. I'm afraid it won't do any good. It's like living in a 'Night of the Living Dead' movie in this country.
