vimeo.com — This short film, entitled "World War", has some of the best animated robot warfare I've seen in a while. It's also quite impressive that this is a final project done by an animation student and looks like it could have easily been done by Pixar.

I didn't find the animation that impressive either.

First by "animations" I mean the way things move. Whether things are move realistically, or rather appropriate to context. The characters strike some cool poses and do some visually entertaining things. I did like the transforming bit by each character. Its slightly silly to say the robots moved rigidly at times, because this may be completely intentional. Some of the sound design suggests that it is. Ultimately though, the movements did take me out of it at times.I think the biggest problem with the animation is just the speed. Sometimes it is too slow and sometimes its too fast. Seriously though, all of the above is only nitpicking greatness. Just constructive criticism. it is so close to being phenomenal. On a second watching, the detail to dust and the environment design are also top notch.

I can't juggle 9 knifes while an elephant poops on my head either, it doesn't mean I want to do it, or watch someone doing it.You do realize that not every member on digg is an animator/cgi artist? I am speaking from the eyes of a regular joe viewer... (i.e. me). The last time I played around with 3d was in 1995. I have no idea what can or can't be done today. All i see is random robots doing random things. I have no idea whether it was hard or easy to do.

True, that's what makes it a letdown.

To get on digg, you have to be a hack. There are plenty of students bringing out stuff thats comparable.
