rocketryplanet.com — On April 25, 2009, history will be made. At Higgs Farm in Price, Maryland, Steve Eves will enter the history books as the person who flew the largest model rocket in history. The rocket will weigh over 1,600 pounds, it will stand over 36 feet tall and will be powered by a massive array of nine motors: pushing it to an altitude of 3000-4000 feet!

I'm going to build one huge rocket today. Maybe weighing in at a whole half ounce. It however will be built for celebration of today! And you might ask what would today be so important for. Well my fellow Digger, today is April 20th, or 4-20. Basically I am celebrating marijuana. Oh in just about an hour I will start my party and shoot for the stars. Hope to see you out in the street with me.

Good point. I flew model rockets locally as a kid. I live in NYC, some googling shows up nothing in local stores. Can it be they are illegal to sell in the NYC area now?

There are actually several classifications. Model Rocket is something you would buy at Wal Mart. This is considered a High Power Rocket, or HPR.Its not simply a rocket. A rocket could be anything.

4000ft? People could launch a rocket of that size to the exosphere.
