nintendo.about.com — "...market data shows that Sony is relying a flagship Blu-ray technology that is currently inconsequential to most people, and likely won't be significantly consequential before the PS3 becomes out-of-date and reaches the end of its life-span around 2010."

One thing I think a lot of people aren't considering through these comments has nothing to do with Sony or the negative press they've been getting, nor the risks that they are taking with the PS3.It's the overwhelming positive feedback that most everyone except the truly rampant Sony-fanboys have had for everything that Nintendo has touched recently. Think about it: Sony will, most likely, beat MS in Japan... I'd be prepared to go to a bookie and put money on it. Nintendo has had a MASSIVE groundswell of support since the DS Lite (not to mention their incredibly cunning Wii launch), and I'd be equally happy to bet that Nintendo will come up the overall winner in the Japanese market.Personally, I haven't bought a 360 and don't plan to: I haven't really touched my old consoles in a few months, because everything is so easily categorised: FPS, Driving, etc etc. Nothing really new. Sure the graphics are sh!t-tonnes better, but really I could fire up my old pc and play Doom 2 and get very similar gameplay. I will be buying the Wii at launch, because I'm excited about the potential of the system, and where it can take gaming.Frankly it does boil down a lot to VHS vs BETA, but with a whole bunch of other variables in the pot. Format-wise, I'm going to wait until someone is decalred a winner so I don't wind up with a $500 boat anchor. At the end of the day though, Sony has a lot of ground to claw back just in terms of mind-share if the PS3 is going to be a real success.

and I don't even spend $750 on a computer system.it's more economical for me to just upgrade my graphics card on my computer to get the same performance as the PS3. Consoles aren't about graphics, they are about gameplay, and so far the Xbox 360 and Wii are winning in providing good gameplay with better dollar value. Innovating with graphics on a console is stupid, since the computer outshines consoles in 2 years or less.

So your saying because Sony is a big brand company then Blue-Ray is a sure success? Although I don't share your enthusiasm didn't you think that Microsoft is a big company too?In terms of company size and profits Microsoft is the most successful company in the world. If Microsoft wanted to they could just make their operating systems support HD-DVD and not Blue-Ray and then see who wins. Then your going to say everyone will start using Linux, seeing as how almost the entire PC industry is dependent on Windows I don't see that happening either.Sony was the big fish in the pond but now there's a shark (Microsoft) and of course the Wii coming in which is just the most phenomenal piece of innovation in decades. These are my Predictions:USA:1.) Xbox360 , Wii

No Company has held dominance over a market for more than 2 consol cycles in history. Sony will not be the market leader this round. Now only time will tell what the future has in store...

Sony is desperately trying to finish designing the PS3 as we speak, talk about a rushed product. It will be buggier than a roach motel. The blue ray disk will be prone to disk read errors. The Cell processor will not deliver on its promised capability ?ever?.The online service will nickel and dime you to death. If the design that was shown at E3 06 doesn?t, change it will be prone to overheating.IT WILL SELL OUT QUICKLY ON LAUNCH DAYIT WILL BE RETURNED AS QUICKLY.SONY ISSUES RECALL
