linuxhaxor.net— More than any other reasons, most Linux users use Linux out of their belief in the ideology that software should be free and open source.

I'm not really against running Windows, but switching back and forth between Vista, XP and Ubuntu Linux, I have to say that I really prefer the way things work in Linux. I prefer .conf files over editing the registry. I like dependencies over .dll's. I like the way that devices work by a (somewhat) standard I/O model, instead of everything having its own way of doing things.I don't pretend that Linux is perfect, not by a long shot. There's a lot of stuff that still needs work, much of it the boring device driver sort of things. And it doesn't seem to be quite as "cutting edge" as Windows or OSX, but it is good enough for me, and it really brought me back to computers as a hobby, instead of just using them.
sudo apt-get install preload prelinkpreload monitors applications that users run, and by analyzing thisdata, predicts what applications users might run, and fetches thosebinaries and their dependencies into memory for faster startup times.prelink is a utility which modifies ELF shared librariesand executables, so that far fewer relocations need to be resolved atruntime and thus programs come up faster.

Yes, I'm from the past. In the past I had to do tech support for Vista not to mention I like my resources and would rather not squander them on Aero.
