northcountrygazette.org — It all began as simply expressing her opinion at a city council meeting, an act clearly protected by the First Amendment, speaking at a public hearing and questioning how a public officer, and in particular Erie County prosecutor Kevin Baxter, could have a financial interest in a contract before the council.

I live in Cincinnati and the cops here in Clifton Heights are awesome human beings that I trust and feel secure when they are around. This kind of news shouldn't be taken to mean that all of Ohio is backwards just because there are a few bad apples.I also know from my speeding tickets on 71 that there are some cops in Ohio who seem to enjoy being on a power trip.

"Her rights were not violated. Thanks to the Patriot Act, this was perfectly legal."That is a very ignorant attitude. Constitution > all other laws. Infact the constitution says it the government may make all laws necessary and proper to uphold it if im not mistaken. The problem here is not the patriot act as much as it is a very weak supreme court and a very weak congress.

Jose Padilla was charged a couple months ago. That doesn't justify holding him all that time, but at this point, the provable illegality is over and we're into the "I disagree with the charges" subjective stage.

@ brady47After reading the story at the link you gave I have to agree. The lady is loosing it. I do however think that this would make one hell of a great idea for a movie! Young, sane, woman with everything going for her starts to loose it more and more and she begins to think that the world has it in for her. Maybe even through in a scene or two of a hallucination of her husband doing something outrageous but then she sees that he is not doing what she thinks he is. Causing her to question what is real and what isn't. I love it! Someone make this movie! Now!

Yeah it sucks--that Padilla hasn't been thrown in jail to rot. I mean seriously, showing up with ten grand in cash, a list of al queda contact infromation, and several anonymous cell phones and we can't get through the trial?

Yeah, how about a link instead next time?

I was released on October 5, 2006 from the Cuyahoga County Jail. I am facing 109 years in Cuyahoga County for sending emails to retired visiting judge Richard Markus complaining about his fixing my civil cases in Ottawa County, Ohio and being involved in pay to play in the courts of Ohio. My charges also arise from operating a now shuttered website www.ereivoices.com which reported extensively on pay to play in Ohio within the courts. Finally I face charges in Erie County for stealing my own company car while leaving an unlawful arrest on a sham warrant. I have been evaluated by 7 doctors, all of whom state I am not mentally ill but suffering from anxiety due legal abuse.A simple analysis of my disbarment by anybody with basic understanding of the first amendment demonstrates it violates the First Amendment. I was complaining about government misconduct and speech critical of government is never criminalized. This is why the Ohio Supreme Court could not provide any legal support in the decision.Bottom line: I have spent 402 days in county jails since September 2002 for speech critical of government including widespread case fixing for profit. My email address is Else512@aim.com and I will respond to any questions.

There is nothing in this article that is inaccurate. In fact, it's actually worse than what is reported and is still being played out. This is headed to the federal court. You better hope they don't do to you what they did to Else Baumgartner. Her rights were thrown out the window
