What sucks is you can't run VMWare player inside VMWare player. WTF.But anyway, for those that want to use VMWare player to create virtual machines, check this out:http://johnbokma.com/mexit/2005/11/07/vmware-player-ubuntu-installation.htmlOf course, that's for WinXP, but it can be modified to fit around linux as well. Makes it so you don't have to find a warez copy of VMWare (although, I do prefer the full blown, but for those who feel like some sort of sinner... here's your ticket)

I didn't realize VMWare Server is now free. I'll give it a try. That's interesting about the Remote Access feature. I did a workaround with VNC to be able to do that in VMWare Player. Thanks for the tip!

This is from a while back, but I've tried it on a couple of different distros and they work just fine (using live-cds, but you can install from them into the VM environment). Easyvmx allows yout to create your own VMWare appliance; it takes a little bit of trial and error to get all your settings just right, and after installing VMWare Player I disabled all the network connections it creates without any problems.http://digg.com/linux_unix/Running_any_Linux_in_Windows_without_a_CD-ROM_(for_free)

My first digg :) This will be great for better knowing Linux like I've been wanting to for a while. Now I just wish I had thought of this first and hadn't made / wasn't afraid to get rid of that Linux partition on my other hard drive x.x
