psp3d.xhardwarereviews.com — Looking to develop PSP games, the Sony-approved (or, not so approved) way? An official Sony PSP Development Platform is currently up for grabs; the same tool used by corporate game developers to develop all the great retail games we see in stores. Makes for a great Xmas present!

If this is real, then the seller's name is out there and the unit will eventually be sold OR the seller sued/destroyed by Sony. If talented coders like Fanjita or DarkAlex got their hands on it, the possibilities would be endless.

This would be pretty useless to a buyer anyway as they would still not have access to the Sony developer network (which provide all the SDK/tools updates required to use the kit.) and the developed software only runs on the test kit (not a retail PSP.)You can buy these testkits from Sony anyway for a few thousand pounds/dollars. This is simply a different way to buy one (via auction). Nothing special here really.

Misread your post... so, to correct myself:It doesn't let you run existing UMDs on PCs either - the devkit has it's own PSP attached to it that you play games on. The only way to run a PSP game on your PC is to have compiled it for your PC in the first place (you can not just pop a UMD in and have it work.)

Good point, indeed it's more of interest to a well heeled collector than to someone trying to actually use it for some practical purpose. Now if it had a UMD burner that would be different...it would open up lots of possibiliites for reverse engineering :)

No he means they work fast AGAINST their consumers, not for them obviously.

...and where would you buy the blank UMDs from?

Very true. DarkAlex probably knows the psp better than programmers at Sony :S

Wow, maybe I should try to get all my eBay auctions dugg? Since apparently, everyone forgets what the "Bury as Spam" option is there for.
