engadget.com — It's true, Amazon just announced that its MP3 music store will be pre-loaded on the T-Mobile G1 Android / Google phone. Users will be able to search, download, buy, and play music from Amazon MP3 -- that's a selection of 6 million DRM-free MP3 songs from all four labels and many independents on a pre-loaded Amazon application.

When you upgrade songs to iTunes Plus you're going from a DRMed 128 kbps AAC to a non-DRMed 256 kbps AAC, so maybe the increase in sound quality is what they charge you for. But it's been a long time since they charged more for a 256 kbps non-DRMed song than for a 128 kbps DRMed song, so maybe they're charging for the bandwidth. Who knows.

Wow. You just destroyed ibeetle. I wonder if a 32 GB micro SD is possible? It's still mind boggling to be able to fit 16 gb in that little card.

So no podcast support? No simple way to transfer amazon bought music to my computer? No video playback? No desktop sync app? 1 gb internal memory - optional 8gb from SD?I would have thought diggers would be more upset about this.
