amd.com— Straight from the horses mouth, AMD press release announces $5.4 bn acquisition of ATI. Where does this leave AMD-NVIDIA??

@neosublime.That's insane. AMD doesn't have a decent mobile product (which is one of the main reasons that Apple went with Intel: IBM couldn't deliver a mobile G5 processor). Also AMD STILL doesn't have a decent motherboard chipset (buying ATI sure as heck doesn't change that).
"In last nights TwiT they made it pretty clear that this has almost no actual benifit to AMD so why would they go through with the deal?"MAC BOOK PRO .....KNOW HAS A AMD PART.....LOL
I am really tired of all this fanboyism on all sides (be it intel, amd, ati, or nvidia).. What consumers should really care about is competition and getting the best hardware for the lowest prices. so enough with the pissing contests between fanboys. These are CORPORATIONS not your family or favorite sports team.
*quoting rip like that*Though nVidia DOES have better driver support with betas coming out almost every month.. while you can stare at ATI site for days waiting for any update related to their drivers./endquoteOk so... Nvidia releases betas about every month, ATI releases named drivers every month. Is there really a difference? Is it because its called a beta? BETA? OMG I need it cuz it fixes it all. Come on.Who knows if its an advantage at the moment. I can see it from either side. They're all still going to make s**ttons of cash because of Vista. Intel probably wont eliminate Crossfire from their motherboards either. They sell motherboards because of that. ATI and AMD will probably just sell more now.
"Why are so many down on this deal?"People fear what they don't understand. This deal is a win-win for both companies -if- it goes through.Look for an extensive Intel+Nvidia cross licensing agreement very soon.Nvidia would LOVE to make it's chips in Intel's fabs, and Intel would LOVE to license Nvidia GPU's for it's integrated chip sets. And, if AMD+ATI kicks the crap out of Intel and Nvidia, expect Intel to scoop up Nvidia sometime in the next 5 years.
