I got the cancellation email also, but my account page shows the item as having been shipped (without a tracking number, however) : Order Number: 102620006Order Date: December 31, 2006Current Status: Item(s) shipped Oh well. Typos suck.
Its as simple as this for me. Mine says shipped, they charged my card already, and I got the cancel email. If i get it, great. If I don't, and the credit back the amount, fine. If I don't get it, and the don't credit back the account, I'm calling to raise holy hell. If i get it, and they charge my card another $100, then I'll call the credit card company and tell them that I did not authorize that charge, plain and simple. I authorized a $26 charge, not a ~$100 extra charge. I don't think they have a legal leg to stand on if they try to come back and "rebill" for the whole amount. That would be like going into a store and walking out with a paid purchase, and then 5 days later the reseller charging you more money for what you already purchased.Right now, I am going to wait and see what happens. I'm not calling customer service to complain, because that won't get me anywhere, it might actually tip my hand. I normally don't do business with OM, because of their shady tactics, but I'm all for bending over someone that has already screwed me.(PS - Is it just me or does the captcha fail more on this site than all the rest put together?)
True - time is valuable, however, keep in mind that there is satisfaction in knowing that you didn't let them snow you. Not to mention, it's good experience depending on your job and can be good exposure for yourself if you are interested in that type of thing. It's also the right thing to do. It only takes one person to fight for everyone, or a class action where the lawyers take over most of the work and the consumers just vote and reap (hopefully).
No, the wholesale price is a lot higher than 18 bucks.I don't know what world you people live in where you believe electronics have a 50-100% markup, but here on Earth, electronics generally have a 5-20% markup and OfficeMax makes all their money on paper and ink sales, not Flash Drives. What got posted was the price for the 1gb unit which was on sale for $17.99 that week.An example of someone copying the wrong sku on a very simlar item and item number.
They might as well change their TOS to "we reserve the right to not-fulfill any order for any reason.... and we will notify you at our convenience""we may change our prices at ANY time. For your convenience we will automatically bill your card for the difference."

If you are truly serious about "justice," you'd better off reporting this to your state Attorney General.

Even after my phone call to Officemax's customer service supervisor yesterday, my order still shows that it has shipped as of Friday morning!
