triplepundit.com — Michael Morris, the CEO of American Electric Power, said in regards to President Obama's goal of doubling renewable energy in three years that Obama's target is too ambitious. Interestingly enough, American Electric Power Co. is the largest U.S. producer of electricity from coal. Let's examine California to see what is possible in clean energy:

Have any of you read this article? All it says is that California mandated increases in alternative energy. So alternative energy generation and jobs increased. Duh. If California mandated increases in astrology, then jobs for ASTROLOGERS would increase too. That doesn't mean that either of them are a good idea.Right now solar/wind don't work. Sure they'll produce some energy. But it's way too expensive. Why? Because the storage technology hasn't caught up. So we have no good way to STORE the electricity from the sunny/windy days to the dark/calm days. Which means someone pays millions to build a solar/wind facility. But can't use it all the time. Maybe one day some genius will make a break though. But until then we need oil. Drill baby, drill.

Maybe someday you'll understand that ruining the planet for future generations isn't a good way to help them create new energy technologies. That, and that most people think you're a f**king tool for repeating "drill baby, drill" at every opportunity.

never heard of it before, looking at it now. Almost had a job offer in Chicago, the area seemed like an area trying to make some big changes. http://apolloalliance.org/

140Suffolk - it's quite clear that there's been increase in temperature that follows very closely the amounts of 'greenhouse gases' that we've been releasing since we start releasing them... prior to us releasing them into the atmosphere, the temperatures stayed relatively stable..

Can you cite any wind projects being stopped by bird kill complaints in the last decade? The bird kill issue is pretty much dealt with by the larger/slower modern turbines and the recognition of prime raptor habitat to avoid. While there is a lot of noise about it, it's not really an issue beyond arguing about phasing out old turbines at a handful of sites.

Obama is not a science major, he's not an economics or business major, I have full confidence he has no idea what he is doing.

Renewable energy will be subsidized heavily under Obama which will bring down the initial price of energy and since they are powered by renewable sources the operation costs are lower so over the long run they could be cheaper as the technology develops.
