rawstory.com — Following a practice embraced by the Bush Administration, President Barack Obama has invoked "state secrets" to prevent a court from reviewing the legality of the NSA's warantless wiretapping program and moved late Friday to have a lawsuit challenging the program dismissed.

McCain and Palin might not have done anything different, but they weren't running their entire campaign under the pretense of CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN.The Republicans might have started it, but is that an excuse for the Democrats continuing it? No. In fact, it's worse or the Democrats because they bitched about it for 8 years and when push came to shove they didn't do a thing. No Change, especially of the kind "we can believe in".As fr a football game, the Democrats and Leftists were the ones for the past 8 years that attacked Bush each and every day and turned every issue into an "us vs. them" mentality. I was amazed that there were no stories complaining about which way Bush put his toilet paper in the roller.Don't you love it when the Obama supporters now have to play defense instead of offense? They can't complain about someone else in power because it's their guy and their Congress running the show. Can't blame Bush any more because he's NOT IN OFFICE (caps inserted so the OP could understand the comment, since he used so many caps in his comment). Obama's running the show now.Such nasty replies and language! I would have expected more out of one from the supposed party of inclusion.

I'm saying we're genetically hardwired to bulls**t. We're primates who are full of ourselves... we think we can do anything and act like we know it all.. but we still have people blowing each other up over abstractions and fear. We're a bulls**t species.

It never occurs to these Obama haters or "President" haters or whatever, that once inaugurated, and now privy to classified information, presidents change their minds. Amidst seas of "I told you so's and HOPE/CHANGE! BAH!" that there might be a damn good reason for this. But the radical right/left would rather whoop and hollar and call you a "nazi" - I guess its more fun for them to name call while keeping their heads firmly implanted up their butts. My father has fairly high-level Pentagon clearance and works in the area of foreign counter-intelligence, and we discussed warrantless wiretapping before Obama was elected... and my father said very clearly that Obama, if elected and once briefed, would absolutely support the Bush Administrations policy on it. I asked, "regardless of how it makes him look to his party, and regardless of how the right will ridicule him?" and he described how valuable this information is to keeping us safe. Apparently, it's overwhelmingly effective and very necessary.

Nope, he is CONTINUING everything Bush put into place. So it can't possibly be the meaning of change. Will his extension of wiretaps, etc, I totally misunderstood him. He said chains.

It can help. Do you know we have a lot of terrorist cells in the US. Especially the detroit area. Do you really think the gov is just going to listen in on some randon Joe for the hell of it. If they are wire tapping you, mostly likely you are in some deep doo doo. If there are any terrorist cell in my area, I want them caught. I have nothing to hide from the feds.

You have to look deeper into his statements. Obama: No warrentless wiretaps if you elect meAll he needs to do so that this wouldn't be a lie is, get a warrant so that he can tap everyone! Politicians sure do know how to twist their words.

He wouldn't have done the same because that is exactly the type of behavior he is against being a Constitutionalist.By the way, I looked at some of your history. You have no business telling anybody to grow up.

The true terrorists - 1% oligarchy, Neo-Nazis, KKK, Federal Reserve...etc. Placing self in the President's shoes I would definitely do as he did. But I would use it against the true terrorists and extremists who legally bribe and take bribes in our government, sponsor illegal war for corporate profits and openly announce hate for all that we voted for (clean renewable energy, responsible deeply considered war approach, Green Jobs, Stopping the Health Care genocide, Equal Rights at Work). Those spending billions to stop our agenda in the middle of a recession are the terrorists that I would use every means to save my country from - corporate imperialist oligarchs, banks, Prime mortgage lenders, credit default swap traders, Union Busters, Big Oil, etc. Bush used it to crash the economy, the same force is needed to fix it - Point Blank - Especially now. Like another writer said, If you never had clearance then in then you don't know enough to judge anything but what you see results on. The Clean Air Act is back, When people like your country, they will work with you, high-tech infiltration exists. I trust President Obama, but what do I know, I'm just looking at his record as a whole. Listening to my conversations won't hurt me. Let's get our Democracy back, by any means necessary.
