IAmDann- The point of the surge in my view was to decrease the violence, so yes, in that respect I agree that the surge worked. We still have a long way to go before we can leave Iraq in a responsible manner though.

I voted Obama. But, remember Bush in 2000 was the peace candidate. He was against nation building, and look what happened with Iraq. I believe we should support the President-elect first starting out but, also, stop short from lifting him onto a moral 'high ground'. This wasn't a serious 'mistake', just a minor inconvenience to the man's comfort, it didn't cost anyone's life. If Obama makes a 'real mistake' its a long fall down from 'higher ground'. America was fooled before, and in the words of Bush,....'you don't get fooled again'.
