Long standing tactic in marketing and propaganda. It's a sad testimony of Obama (and the vast majority of others) that they do this to win. Did anyone ever believe that "hope" was a campaign plank?

I call bullcrap. I'll make up numbers here, as I don't know the current inheritance tax rates, but the current rates aren't the point. The math is simple: let's say your family owns a farm that's land rich and cash poor. Your land is worth $3 million and inheritance after $1 million is taxed. Your parents die, so you owe 40% of $2 million, or $800,000. Since selling almost 1/3 of your land would leave you with too small of a farm to support your family, you're forced to sell the farm. Inheritance taxes kill family farms and small businesses. Can I walk down the street and find someone like that today? Maybe not, but that example is entirely plausible. Paying taxes on inheritance of income producing assets often necessitates selling of said asset.
