huffingtonpost.com — He did it. No other presidential candidate in the last forty years has managed to speak so much truth so eloquently at such a crucial juncture in his campaign as Barack Obama did today. And he did it by speaking about race, the most persistent source of hatred among us since America began.

maddoc62,I have read through his books, and no where does he show disdain for white folk. One would have to really read into his anecdotes to see disdain. Anecdotes might be negative, but if they are true, one cannot make a judgment call on the mans thoughts.Yes there are double standards about black racism versus white racism, but whites were never forced to sit in the back of a bus, use worse bathrooms, segregated from voting through a poll tax, and above all forced to pick cotton against their will. It was in the past, but you just don't erase that kind of treatment. It is far better than it has ever been, but it is not completely gone. Know any funny black jokes? Hear any comedian make fun of white people? Stereotypes, prejudice and racism are a part of American culture, or any culture for that matter. No one is above it, I don't care how incredibly modern you might be. Look at the demographics: who graduates high school more? who makes more money? who is running this country? The percentages don't lie, there exists many divisions in this country so why can't we simply call a spade a spade and attempt to move on?

I can understand why you think that way (@KenSPT) but I have to say that a lack of opportunity does not directly correlate with a lack of responsibility or ambition. Surely someone as thoughtful as yourself can see that. Maybe I understand it because I'm from a Third World country and also as a result many 'opportunities' here are just closed doors to me. You say just 'get a job' as if there's an infinite even distribution of employment opportunity just there for the taking. I believe the government of the country has the responsibility of ensuring that the 'American dream' exists for all her citizens and not just the ones with a leg up. If not, why bother with government if its every man for himself?

Barack Obama is STILL the ONLY candidate I trust. I hope to vote him into the office of the President of the United States in November.

Democrats didn't always make flower chains and sing choruses of 'Lesbian Seagull.' Harry Truman nuked Japan. LBJ conducted illegal bombings of Cambodia and Laos as well as sending in the CIA to conduct political assassinations. Andrew Jackson fought dozens of duels and engaged our government in a program to eradicate the remaining Native Americans. 'Democrat' doesn't always have to be synonymous with 'pansy'...that just appeals to a certain modern weakness of character that's common among the young.

What about white pastors that say hateful comments about America, gays and Islam? There are whites that still respect these people or contiune to join their organizations. Or is their a double standard. Again how do you know the motivation of blacks voting for Obama? Do you know the motivation of ALL white young voters, voting for him? Are blacks not considered humans and able to vote for all they want ? KKK still are around and therefore it shows that not all whites know racism is wrong. You still do not understand Obama's speech. He talks about unity, yet your trying to divide blacks and whites by calling blacks racists, angry and saying they are voting wrongly because they CHOSE to vote for a black man. Most blacks have never wanted to be superior than whites but simply to have the same opportunities .

Blacks categorize themselves as one group. When a black speaks of his or her COMMUNITY I guarantee you it does not include white skinned and blue eyed people.

It's not like everything the pastor ever said was anti-America. One nasty segment of one sermon vs. the hundreds he's delivered over 20 years. Is there evidence that the pastor held or voiced these views 20, 15, 10, or even 5 years ago?

No, no, they'll not go insane. They'll just invent increasingly insane excuses for why Obama does what he does. Meanwhile, the U.S. will go to ruin under Obama's "leadership."<a class="user" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance</a>

All the logic and intelligence in your comment is a bit scary as well. It made me wonder why I'm not a liberal. I'll have to find a different path to enlightenment.

Yeah, I was pointing out his party affiliation to make just that point. I still know Republicans who are conservative in the vein of Dwight Eisenhower.
