F**K THE RIAA!

Hey, I thought Obama was our best realistic choice at the time (and I still stand by that), but I did give him the benefit of the doubt on a lot of issues, mostly because he just wasn't in politics that long to get a gauge of his future decisions. On too many of those, he screwed us. FISA had me worried, but everyone said that he was just making concessions to appeal to a broader audience to get elected, and then make the *real* change. I didn't believe that, but at least hoped that there was some truth to it. Then, allowing Bush & Co. pretty much get off the hook on all the blatant criminal activities. Then to continue NSA wiretapping of American citizens without a warrant. To the appointment of RIAA lawyers. I feel sick.I'm not someone diametrically opposed to the RIAA because they try to stop copyright infringement. Whether you agree with copyright law and fair use in the US doesn't matter; the law in its current form allows for companies to protect their Intellectual Property, as it is their product. I understand that. What makes no f**king sense to me is how lawyers for the RIAA can send out batch lawsuit papers like a botnet, encompassing every cross-section of SES, including people who didn't even have the Internet or own a computer. Of the thousands and thousands of threatening letters they sent out, only a fraction of a percent ever went to a courtroom, because the RIAA simply didn't have any proof of any wrongdoing, even if a person was making available said content. The sheer presumptuousness of the threats is actually pretty terrifying, especially for the elderly (or unborn!) accused. To have a legal team that unconcerned with fair use, procedure, or the f**king *law* itself gaining ground and positions in our DoJ shows clear disregard for transparency, constituents of this Administration, and the well-being of the citizens of this country.

a great, great documentary A must see to understand much of what is going on and it seems to show both sides. There is a piece in there were the protesters started to protest some president or something of Sunoco. They show up, place a giant banner on their homes, the people come home and everyone is ready for the big fight, but instead the president and his wife discuss the issues with the protesters and serve the protesters tea and cookies.... It was freaking great.
