huffingtonpost.com — Obama is accusing Republican rival John McCain of failing to do anything to improve the quality of public education during nearly three decades in Washington. "Not one real proposal or law or initiative. Nothing," Obama said.

McCain dosen't like educated people. Educated people tend to show how ignorant he is.I mean look how long it took his running mate to graduate from collage and all she recieved was a diploma in journalism.

I'm all for better funding for education, but the idea of charter schools receiving money that could have went to improve public schools bothers me. I don't think the government handles most things as good as it should, that being said I think it's in the best interests of the children to have teachers/administrators/facilities through high school looking at the same pay scale, benefits, and oversight. Charter schools even with vouchers in place for needy children just seems elitist, and like treating a symptom and not the actual illness. The problems seem to be with overall funding, the way things are taught, parental involvement, and the quality of the teachers. To make a few new charter schools, and to leave failing conditions elsewhere, that other children will have to deal with is just wrong.

It's just the point the man the "mav" is not very bright, furthermore, graduating last in his class he was flying planes he really wasn't qualified for because of his fathers position; 5 plane crashes, pow, hero, senate, but still again, not a very smart man! How refreshing would it be to actually have an intelligent president!Obama 08

I really have no problem with accredited charter schools competing with public schools. Competition should be an incentive to BOTH of them! My problem is with the teaching of creationism and other non-scientific thoughts and theories in non-accredited church-run schools and home-schooling by non-accredited and ignorant parents who tend towards theocratic ideals and not scientific facts. How on earth do we expect to compete globally if we teach our children that the earth was literally created in it's present form in seven (7) days and the earth is only 10,000 years old? A better education would not only lift people out of poverty but increase our tax base and give more children the great benefit of being able to support the families they choose to rear. JUST SAY KNOW!

Brother you said it! I never thought anyone can be worse than Bush but half of the United States is ready to elect McCain / Palin two people that are just as dumb as Bush. Oh well, some people will vote without learning any facts. The United States will not survive McCain / Palin.

The voucher system could possibly work, however, it would have to be in conjunction w/ other alternatives. This country thrives on variety, and choice. I absolutely don't believe that McCain will do anything about education, as a matter a fact he's pretty much full of s**t about everything. I do believe he will drag out the Iraq war, play cowboy politics w/ Iran, as well as Russia, not to mention we still have too few troops in Afghanistan ~ where the focus should have been all along. He even admitted Iraq was all about oil, look how many of our young folks had to die, or were injured, for what, we still haven't even gotten bin laden. So if McPalin get in expect a draft! Home Land Security was supposed be the country's main focus, and 7 years after 9/11, they received a grade C ! Furthermore, 9/11 happened on the Republicans watch, and whats worse they had information on these guys, but ignored it, thank you Bush, Cheney, McCain & all your partners in crime, asleep @ the wheel, to say the least. The economy hasn't been this messed up since the great depression. McCain and Republicans talk about less government, less regulations, now since black Monday 9/15/08, all of a sudden he wants more regulation, and a commission to study what happened, everyone knows what happened except him - it seems. It's obvious that McCain just isn't very intelligent, he was at the bottom of his class, crashed 5 planes. While everyone respects his service, and the fact he was a POW, he has really milked that bit out for way too long. He seems confused, ill tempered, 40 years festering PTST, has poor judgment, and an itchy trigger finger. His running mate is an extremist who believes were in a "holy War". Pat Bucanchan stated that's what (two pro-war people) scares him about the the McPalin ticket. McCain was pushing to go in to Iraq, now he brags about the surge, which is so ridiculous because the surge was a Re-Action to their (McCain / Bush & Company's) original Action aka ~ major f**k up, invading Iraq in the first place. We've been their longer than WWII lasted! What has been achieved? Karl Rove has stated that McPalin has gone too far with lies, and disgusting below the belt attacks on Barack Obama & Joe Biden! Karl Rove said McPalin has gone too far, I just have to repeat that because it amazes me. Karl Rove, and I finally agree on something. McCain is selling his soul to win, it's sad, and really sick!Obama 08
