boston.com — Two new national polls show Barack Obama surging against Hillary Clinton in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. In a New York Times-CBS News poll, 54 percent of Democratic primary voters say they would prefer the party to nominate Barack Obama while 38 percent prefer Hillary Clinton.

I used to be a registered republican, but after the last 8 years with Dubya, I re-registered as an independent. I never thought in the past that I would vote for a democrat, but I am proud to say that Barack Obama has my vote and full support. When I listen to him discuss issues, I feel a renewed sense of hope that we can still save this country of ours. He speaks with passion, conviction, and underscores the importance of hope and possibilities.Hillary Clinton bashes Obama because he talks about hope all the time, but hope is perhaps the most important thing all of us have. It is the only thing that no one can take away from us.I long for the days where inspirational sound bites from presidential speeches were commonplace and when listened to, would invoke a sense gut wrenching patriotism that you would need to forcibly hold yourself back from tears of pride. Sound bites such as "We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard." and "Mr. Gorbechov, tear down this wall!".Barack Obama speaks with sincerity, confidence, and a manner of casual professionalism that is very refreshing to listen to. I don't fall asleep when I listen to him like I did with Al Gore and John Kerry, don't get me started on Dubya. In Barack Obama, I see a man who says what he means and means what he says.Hillary said "It took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush and it will take another Clinton to clean up after the second Bush." Well what I don't think she realized is that many of us aren't comfortable with the country being run by the same two families for almost two decades.Barack Obama stands for change, hope, and inspiration. @bclinton, how does me being a Canadian make my opinion on this funny? I'm saying that Barack will represent the majority of the general population and win the presidency. You are saying you ARE afraid and that 97% of the Black American population is looking for revenge for past and present racial injustices. So again, you're not afraid of him, your afraid of a Black President. If you don't believe in your own Constitution, and it applies to ALL Americans, maybe you should just pack up and leave, head back to whatever backward country your family came from. Germany?
