He was talking about Iraq.

I agree. We only have around 40k troops there. The soviet union tried occupying it with over 100k and still failed. We do not have the man power to even attempt such an operation right now.

@sodadeI agree we should have never meddled with affairs in the ME for the last sixty years, and should never have been involved in Iraq. We should also not be under any illusion that we can "occupy" Afghanistan since nobody (to include Alexander the great, the British Empire or the Soviet Union – STFU tidu) could. However, we are not, and should never be an occupational force. There is a way out of this mess, and if we can teach the Afghan people to stand up to the Taliban thugs and run their own destiny the world will be better for it. I for one do not wish to see the blood and treasure of our nation squandered for nothing – or worse.http://www.examiner.com/x-30980-Afghanistan-Headli ...http://www.app.com/article/20091116/OPINION04/9111 ...http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSTRE5AK0 ...http://govinfo.library.unt.edu/911/report/911Repor ...
