jason210: You do realize flat taxes tend to be regressive, and thus achieve the opposite effect of what you desire?

My mother in law is 64 years old and has to live with us because she can't survive on her own. My own father would be homeless if my stepmother didn't work to support them. He had a massive heart attack and has mesothelioma (spelling?). The cancer in his lungs was contracted through asbestos from working on pipes while in the Navy. And it took 1.5 years to be able to get him in the VA hospital and get him disability. There are some people still out there that need the rest of America's help and deserve it! Granted there are people on welfare that keep having babies to get more money. The people that sell their food stamps for cash but but we have to remember there are decent people that need help right now. BTW I apologize for seeming as though I was personally attacking you. I'm not. I am just frustrated at how everyone is so quick to turn there back on people that need it.

Um, a payment to people who are not paying taxes - or a payment in excess of the tax rate - is not a tax cut but a socialist wealth transfer program.

This also does not include any of the energy taxes that an Obama administration would initiate.

Paying for all of the massive increased spending that he mentioned will result in new taxes. Only fools think you can hire an "army of new teachers" and the money "appear" without someone paying for it.

The fair tax is horrible - it punishes spending - how is that going to help the economy? Not to mention the fact that when the income tax was instituted only the top 1 percent of the wealthy paid it to help out those that were disadvantaged (didn't have the connections that most of the top 1 percent have)... Now workers pay a higher percentage than the wealthy!

The "tax and spend liberal" thing was always total baloney. By far the largest debts of the past 50 years were run up by Reagan and Bush II. You're repeating a bs Heritage talking point.

Fine, let 'em not show up. Let 'em leave the country, imbecile. I'll be more than happy to do what little they do, make the massive amounts they make for not doing anything, and pay my fair share of taxes all at the same time. PLEASE, despicable greedy people, LEAVE THE COUNTRY IN DROVES.

Let's put this in perspective."The latest data from the Congressional Budget Office and the Internal Revenue Service show that the lowest 40 percent of income earners as a group actually receive net payments from the federal income tax system. (They get 3.8 percent of total federal income tax revenues instead of paying any income taxes.) The middle 20 percent of income earners pay 4.4 percent of federal income taxes. Thus the bottom 60 percent of income earners together, on net, pay less than 1 percent of all federal income taxes. (These workers earn 26 percent of national income.)The data show that the top 1 percent of income earners now pay 40 percent of all federal income taxes, which is almost double their share of the national income. The top 10 percent pay 71 percent of federal income taxes, though they earn just 39 percent of the nation's pretax income."<a class="user" href="http://weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/015/533kqlep.asp">http://weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/ ...</a>

according to this site, my taxes will increase quite a bit more with Obama... and no, I do not make over $250,000.
plsnobama2008Oct 30, 2008
That's not true... I put in $150,000 and it said that I would not get an Obama tax cut
kellyjamOct 31, 2008
Hey It says I will get $1,000 under Obama. It must be true because a politician would never lie about a promise would they? And here I thought I would have to pay off that silly 2 trillion they just threw at wall st.

Did Obama cut our payroll taxes? Yes he did...but what most people do not realize is that we must pay taxes on that money at the end of the year. He gives people a false sense of change by giving them a little extra cash in their pocket at the end of every pay period. What EVERY American, both Conservative AND Liberal should do is change your W-4 to reflect zero exemptions. That way the hit at the end of the year won't be felt.
