I hope the digg crowd is smart enough to know that Autism (according to the school administrators, teachers, and psychologists) reaches something like 40% of the population and is very different from a retarded personyeah.. timing is every thing here.. pile on the Diggs anti-authority crowd
Hmmmm... Below is just one of hundreds of different reports about the sky rocketing numbers of children diagnosed with autism. Do some research yourself and you'll find hundreds of doctors that feel autism is being over-diagnosed. Its an issue close to my heart. Calling me names is fine, it doesn't change the reality that autism is awful. Tazing autistic children is awful. Autism is still a mystery to the scientific/medical community. Hopefully we can all learn more about it. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7031446/page/2/
True, but does it really relate to this story? I assume this is a one-time-only case, it's not as if the kid will be tased on a regular basis... The taser gun was not used to "teach that darned kid a lesson", but to gain control of the situation and the (probably already hysteric) person. If this kid was hysterical, acting violently and irrational, it could prove difficult to calm him down in the middle of a freeway. The first priority in a situation like that would be to first secure the person and the surroundings (meaning traffic), utilizing force if neccesary.Anyway, the story itself is short on information, so it's hard to tell whether the officer was using excessive force.
If they use their battons to 'subdue' a suspect it's a problem. But if they use machines to electrocute them, then there's no problem. This is just getting worse.
YESSSS, this must mean every time those little rug rats get out of line forget good parenting, forget negation skills, forget common sense, tase the little bastards. If its good for the cops its good for all of us, right? "Seen and not heard, unless you want to be tasered."

No but it's also possible to help someone by tasering them.
