gizmodo.com— It's easiest than ever to pit Windows 7 and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard head-to-head: They're launching soon, both within a month of each other—and both are basically glorified service packs of the current OS.

Really? That like asking why have a 22in monitor. More screen space. Seriously, that little plus button on OS X windows that you would think would maximize is completely f**king useless.
Windows 7 is no more a service pack to Vista than Windows 98 was to 95. Even looking at the version numbers. Vista 6.1, XP 6.0. Win98 4.10, Win95 4.0. Apple's changes sound more low key. Improvements to the OS, speed, boot times, compatibility, etc. are what Microsoft has done with hot fixes, updates and SP1. Leopard -> Snow Leopard (notice how it is still a "leopard"...) seems more like a Windows 98 to 98 SE sort of change. But then I'm not a Mac user, so the differences might be more obvious to them.
I am right with you. I have had no problems whatsoever. I also noticed something that is just fabulous: I have not had to install one single driver. Windows 7 has detected every single piece of hardware...and I am a serious hardware upgrade junkie. I have many games installed, and though a game here and there will turn Windows Aero off while the game is running, they have all performed above my expectations.
Good old Windows NT, lets go back in time and look at where windows NT comes from. it's called VMS an old supercomputer OS that was use for businesses. Innovation? from Microsoft? I want to see that happen. lolHave you ever stop to think way Windows NT based OS use Unix commands?Just a thought.
People like to blame Windows Vista because the developers of their third party software couldn't be bothered to release a damned update that makes it Vista-compatible.News flash: Operating systems change, and some s**tty software gets the axe. Get new software.
I don't see why any Intel Mac user is still running Tiger. But for those that are, Mac Box Set will be your upgrade path. PowerPC users... sorry, but you're topped out at Leopard. Might as well get it now, before it is disco'ed and becomes hard to find.

Clearly, you need to read up on mounting network shares.

Why buy a mac when you just want to use the terminal? Ubuntu does a fine job.
