I fully expect to be buried for even mentioning this, but Windows Mobile phones have been open for anyone to write apps for since day one. Not only that, but they're 3G, can do everything iphones can do (except sync with itunes), can turn any audio file into a ringtone for free, can do voip over 3g for free, and much, much more.
Why the wait? It may have something to do with apple fanatics' uncanny ability to make excuses for apple every time apple craps on them. I mean really, there are no real consequences for screwing their customers up the bunghole, what is stopping them?
