It says that they are "digitally restored" I'm assuming that means that they are retouched. The color doesn't look realistic to me, so I would guess that it is artificial.

I don't know. If it were possible to watch one from a safe distance (and don't give me that there is no safe distance crap -- there are and they can calculate it), I would pay to see one go off. It's one of the few "wonders" I would pay to go see.
