timesonline.co.uk— It’s payback time. Internal Republican polls are now showing that this scandal could cost them up to 50 seats in next month’s election, as their base is so disgusted

Fine. Lets wait till the investigation is over then...You're not supposed to excuse someone because of their political label, but the reality of the House of Representatives is that if you are a member of the minority party, you are kept in the dark about A LOT of goings on in Congress, especially when House GOP leaders treat the issue as a "private matter" as they have claimed. My point is that it's most probable that if Hastert and the others treated the Foley matter as a "private matter" they would not have informed Democrats, and that there simply are no knowledgeable Democrats.Fact: the Democrats are the minority party.Fact: the Republicans are the majority.Fact: Republicans involved in the scandal have said that they dealt with Foley privately, meaning that at best, they approached him and told him to cut it out, without involving the press, the FBI, or the minority party, the Democrats.Political spectrum doesn't matter, but because of how f-'d up Congress is, a Congressman's party matters a lot. You honestly don't expect members of one exclusive club in congress to share juicy secrets like Foley's antics to the opposition club?
@pickypgHate to burst your bubble, but it would be possible to be in AP English, in High School, and be 18 years old. Depends on when the kid was born.Regardless, Foley should be thoroughly investigated, and if evidence warrants, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Come on people. Get off your giddy soap boxes and realize that this is politics. The vultures are at it and could we suspect any differently? So there's a creep in the Republican party, big surprise. There is more than one, I can tell you. But there are creeps in the Democrat party too. Just because the Republicans have a moral base and sport this moral base as a main tenant of their platform, do we have to jump on them for a member of the party being a sicko? The hypocrisy lies with HIM, not the whole party. How, in all honesty, can you sincerely say that the ENTIRE REPUBLICAN PARTY was in on it? Or anyone for that matter? Wait until the investigation is over at least. This reminds me of the whole Plame leak. "Plamegate" they called it. Oh, did they have a field day. But when the truth came out and it wasn't Libby or Cheney, but really Armitage, did we hear about it? Did you sound the alarm? No. Hardly anything. What Mel Reynolds did, what Foley did was horrid in itself. But good Lord people, don't blame the parties for it. So, for God's sake, wait until the case is finished before you begin pointing fingers and gleefully thumbing your noses at the Republicans. Can we not transcend this base political jeering and proceed with important matters? And one more thing: you can disagree with a president or a party on certain issues and provide thoughtful criticism. But this vicious dogpiling on the GOP, on Bush and anyone associated with him is disgraceful, and it's too easy. The man was brave for what he did, and to stay his course--whether you agree with it or not. Give our president some respect.
Some Democratic Bumper Stickers to "support" their policies:- Foley is Gay; Vote for us.- We don't have any ideas for America's future but we really hate Foley; Vote for us.- We hate, we hate, we denigrate; Vote for us.- We hate Bush; Vote for us.
Koose:>I'm not attacking Democrats. I'm making no specific accusations.Yes you did. You even used the word "undeniable." I want to know exactly what Democrat did this undeniable act you claim. Here's what you said:"It is undeniable that whatever action knowledgeable Democrats took ultimately allowed Foley to continue preying on minors."So which Democrat knew about it?
