blog.shevin.info — If you remember the old days of MS-DOS, you would miss Norton Commander file manager. The two blue columns where you'd select files on one side and copy them to the next side, only by pressing F5, no typing any commands !You may ask why would I use MC while we have other grpahical file managers (i.e. Nautilus and Konqueror) ...

The greatest "feature" of mc in that it simplifies things for those who aren't fruent with command line tools. Not only it can copy/move/create/edit files/directories, but also uncompress archives, connect to ftp servers, edit file permissions. Without it, it's much, much harder for a newbie to admin a remorte server. I really think it should be installed by default or at least put on a CD.There's a downside, too - you're less likely to learn those CLI tools' syntax. And for crying out loud - it's a tool for Linux, not for Ubuntu. it's been arounch much, much longer. That's the only reason you're not getting a digg from me, mate.
