To say he "copied from photographs" is a huge disservice to his talent and creativity. He used photos as a reference, just like many artists use live models. Do great masterpieces suck because the artist used a model sitting for hours on end so he could capture their image? Rockwell was just using modern technology. Plus, he didn't just "copy" the photos. He added details and expressions not found in the reference photo. Did you even RTA?
